The text is followed by seven full page engraved plates, each with a facing page of explanation, and followed by an index. Bound between plates VI and VII is a full page chart in contemporay hand, "A Synoptical Table of Ulcers of the Throat and Mouth...." Bound without the frontispiece, but scarce even so with all seven plates present. Bottom right corner of title page clipped, erasure of a stamp from title page, else a fine copy. Hunter's work contains sections on the venereal poison, the mode of venereal infection, "gonorrhoea", "chancre", and lots more.He was a Scottish surgeon, one of the most famous of his day.; a well-known anatomist, regarded highly for his research into digestion, dentistry, fetal and child development, and venereal diseases.
