The cancel leaf C8 (pp.31-32) is usually lacking and was removed because of a revision to Canto I, there being no loss of text; minor pagination duplication at 73-74. Boards worn at edges and rubbed, with a neat repair to the upper hinge; frontispiece reinforced at the fold; else a very good copy. This copy is unusual in that the plates are tinted, not colored. Lacks preliminary and ultimate blank pages; tip of spine lightly worn, leaves A5-8 have some worming with occasional slight loss,and leaves A7&8 have been remargined, else a very good copy. The probable date of printing (1697) is from Wing; OCLC, however, notes that it must have been printed before 1743, by which time John de Cock was dead, and suggests a date of about 1700-1724. Wing R2235A; ESTC R182955. Rare.

Nicely printed on heavy paper. Light wear and soil else a very good copy. Disbound. 8pp. Woodcut of beehive on title page. Contents listed on the first page: 13 items, beginning with "She Lives not a Mile from the Meadow". Date of printing, based on Todd from the imprint address, is between 1802 and 1819. Text of songs only, no music. Four leaves, well stained , worn at edges (with loss of two words on page 7). Trimmed at the inner margin, but the two inner leaves are still connected. Only a fair copy, but a rare item.

This edition is Madan #2, Almack #4, with two square blocks added to title page and text reset; misspelling "mali" for "mala" on title page. Originally attributed to Charles I, it is now acknowledged that the author is John Gauden. The portrait is signed "Guil: Marshall sculpsit"; in this issue the portrait is Marshall's original design, the second state (cf. Madan, p. 177). There were at least 40 different English editions printed in 1649 (some dated 1648, but actually printed in 1649). Contemporary full black calf with a crown and 'C' and 'R' at its base on both boards in gilt. Spine tips were replaced at an early date; light soil; lacks final blank; else a very good copy. Possibly defective, ending with leaf M10 and the word '"Finis" and thus probably not bound with the Letter from the Prince as described by Madan in No. 8. Originally attributed to Charles I, it is now acknowledged that the author is John Gauden. There were at least 40 different English editions printed in 1649, some hurriedly, as this copy must have been Contemporary full brown calf tooled in blind on the boards and on the spine. Joints cracked, but firm; head of spine and lettering labels nearly perished; old library stamp and bookplate; else a good copy.

Purple cloth, the upper board blocked in a regal design in white, blue, pink and gilt. Top edge gilt. Printed in red and black, with many text illustrations. Endpapers in deep blue with a repeating design of rampant lions. Cloth on rear board replaced with similar, but brighter, cloth; general sunning; last 6 leaves stained from damp, with light offset of text. Still an acceptable copy.

Binding attributed to Thomas Gosden Full straight-grain green morocco with an ornamental border of gilt and blind tooling on the boards; spine in 5 uneven compartments, gilt, with gilt vignettes of a fiddler, a stag, and Robin's hat and arrows. Vignette on the title page. All edges gilt. Binding rubbed and faded but firm. This binding is a very attractive specimen of Gosden's style

Rebacked to style in black leather, spine in 6 compartments with raised bands, red leather lettering label, gilt. Folding hand-colored map in read is complete, showing a view of the British Isles and another of Europe. Rebacked, boards rubbed, inner hinges repaired, bottom corner of title page remargined (no loss), occasional neat old library stamp on the reverse of plates, else a good copy and quite uncommon.
