Plates include: Locomotive; Kessel; Dampfmaschine; Turbo-Dynamo; 'Adler' Automobile Motor; Schiffsmotor; Radial aircraft motor; Oilmachine. The scarce Atlas volume issued to accompany the 2-vol. Praxis des Modernen Maschinenbaues. Green printed cloth. Trace of damp, not affecting plates. Plate VIII apparently lacks one outer fold showing the case of the Oilmachine. Spine and corners renewed, boards rubbed and yawning. A very good copy of a scarce and fragile item, with the folding paper diagrams in very good condition.

Stated first edition. 8 X 11'. Unpaginated--each chapter has a separate pagination. Illustrated with photographs and diagrams. Index. Original light card printed covers; spiral bound with metal spirals. The covers are soiled, well worn and lacking small pieces at edges, but still serviceable. Text block is very good. Though dated 1942 on the title page, the reverse shows a 1943 date, and the preface is so dated as well. Elmer Bruhn was the first head of the Purdue Aeronautical Engineering Faculty. The text presents over 175 example problem solutions and over 1000 figures and sketchs. The sections include: statics review with an aeronautical flavor; buckling and ultimate strength of thin sheet units; application of the theory of the former sections to airplane parts and units; and loads on the wing and body.
