Original tan colored cloth binding, blocked in brick and gilt.  Facsimile of America's earliest medical book, written in Aztec and translated into Latin by another Indian, here reproduced with English translation. (Codex Barberini, Latin 241) Vatican Library. An Aztec Herbal of 1552. Introduction, Translation and Annotations by Emily Emmart with a foreword by Henry E. Sigerist. Ownership name else a near fine copy. The scarce, fragile dustwrapper is present; it has been archivally repaired from within at the folds, and lacks upper and lower margins, lightly coiled, else in good shape.
