New York: Frederick A. Stokes, 1891. First edition. Hardcover. Good. Item #17847
Folio. 24 chromolithographed sheets (including the title page) printed on one side only in full color on heavy paper. The binding is a green cloth spine, printed paper boards showing Little Miss Muffet on both the upper and lower boards. The first three pages have been reset; the boards are rubbed and corners worn; an old (1891) gift inscription on the front pastedown has been partially obliterated; lacks rear free endpaper; inner hinge neatly mended; the last page (Bobby Shaftoe) has a closed marginal tear with an old tape repair affecting the second verse of the rhyme (no loss); Little Boy Blue may once have been framed: there are tape marks on the reverse not affecting the image side; overall a better than good copy of a scarce book by one of America's first popular women artists.
