Sir William Bentham (1779-1853) was an antiquary who devoted much time to the preparation of catalogues and indices to collections of records. This work, his inquiry in to the origin of the Celtic peoples, devotes entire chapters to Gildas, Nennius and the Welsh Triads, all of which figure in prominently in the lore of King Arthur and the Matter of Britain.
