Each board with a recessed chomolithographed hummingbird plate paste-on. All edges gilt. Green and black marbled paper endpapers. Light staining to some of the pages in the rear else this is a very good copy in a fine binding.
Written by two pioneering Victorian-era naturalists and illustrators, 'Humming-BIrds' contains detailed descriptions of species, behavior, and habitats, along with stunning illustrations by the Kirby sisters themselves. One of the earliest books about hummingbirds written for a general audience yet highly respected by scientists.
