The Metamorphoscope: Intended for the Amusement of Good Children

Boston: T. H. Carter, 1838. Wraps. 12mo. Three (of four?) leaves. Wood engraved illustrations, handcolored, one to a page, each with two folding flaps changing the scene at head and foot. Lacks part of the title and corresponding engraving on the reverse, thankfully loss is limited to a portion of the title border and the border of the engraving. Also apparently lacks the fourth engraving with flaps, though there is a fourth engraving on the reverse of the third, but without flaps All folds have been repaired with either archival tape or archival tissue; some soiling. Only a fair example but extremely scarce. Montanero lists no moveable titles as early as this. Item #18946
