El Popol Vuh

n.p. (Mérida, Yucatan): n.p. (Hu'un), n.d. Stiff card wraps. An accordion book in the style of a Mayan Codex. Closed, it measures 4 by 4½ inches. The covers are of stiff card made of handmade Mayan paper; the text, printed on both sides, is on handmade Mayan paper by Hu'un. When fully opened,d it measured about 4 by 42 inches.


This is a retelling of a part of the Popol Vuh, the Mayan story of Creation. Each section of the narrative if accompanied by a full color reproduction of one of Callaghan's representation of the cycle. There are 10 full color plates as well as a full color double-[age spread. Callaghan has retold the beginning of the story in Spanish. The final final page dedicates the books to the cornmen, the plants, animals and minerals that make up our earth in the hope to see us all live in harmony.
