New York: Grosset & Dunlap, (1923). With illustrations in color by James Montgomery Flagg. Hardcover. Very good. Item #20302 .
Fourth G&D printing. Tan cloth blocked in blue and brown on the spine and upper cover. Three full color full page plates. Light wear, rubbing to the upper board, else a very good copy.
Signed by William S. Hart on the front free endpaper.
With the original bookplate of columnist Jimmy Starr on the front pastedown. The bookplate incorporates the design of Rudolph Valentino's bookplate, designed by William Cameron Menzies. Star admired Valentino's bookplate so much that he obtained permission from the Valentino estate to reproduce it, adding his own name above Valentino's. Rare as Valentino's bookplates are, Starr's are reportedly even rarer.
