n.p., Hall Brothers, C. 1928. First edition. Very early rendering of Mickey Mouse on a single folded sheet. Folded, it measures 4½ by 6 inches, then opens to 6 by 9, again opening to 9 by 11, then again to 11 by 18 and finally to a grand 18 by 22. Printed in black and red on tan paper. Mickey is shown in each of the panels with various measuring sticks demonstrating the changed dimensions of the card, except on the last pane, he holds a birthday cake and with the birthday message spelled out in anthropomorphic letters.
This is the Mickey with still a bit of a long nose and with the pie-cut eyes that lasted only a few years from 1928.
The copyright date on this piece is smudged but appears to be 1928. That is probably the correct date as Mickey made his debut in the spring of 1928 and Hall Brothers became Hallmark later in that year. Later printings of this card bear the Hallmark imprint.
There is a neat handwritten name on the final pane, minor separation at some edges else this is in fine condition. Rare in first printing.
. Near fine. Item #20329
