The obverse shows the map of Magellan's voyage and that of the Graf Zeppelin, but the reverse deals mainly with the journey of the Zeppelin in 1929, and then asks pupils to compare the voyages.
This card dates from about 1930 and was distributed by the New York Schools system as a teaching aid for various subjects. The obverse tells the story, and the reverse gives explanations for the teacher and suggestions on activates for the classroom related to the story.
Undated,but the Zeppelin was retired in the 1930's.
Margaret Ely Webb was a painter, illustrator, art teacher and writer. Aside from her textbooks, she provided illustrations for this teaching card series as well as several children's books published in the early part of the 20th century.
