The sources say that copies 1-40 were specially illuminated by Bertha Hubbard with more elaborate watercolor vignettes and embellishments. This copy, though it is No. 110, is certainly more elaborately colored than the normal copy, and has several watercolor vignettes added to the initial. The 'T' on p. 95, e.g., is a country cottage added as a background; and the 'A' on p. 120 has an added cattail plant running down the margin. The may well have been colored by Bertha; but if not, then certainly by someone with her talent.
General light soil else a very good copy, with a fine text block. With the ownership name of Francis P. Lamphear on the front pastedown. Lamphear was an author and also Secretary of the NY YMCA.
