Alberto Vargas' copy with h is signature on the title page, and again on the dedication poage (with place and date) and finally again on the rear free endpaper.
Joaquin Alberto Vargas y Chavez was born in Arequipa, Peru, in 1896, and became the noted painter of pin-up girls. His early career in New York included being the artist for the Ziegfeld Follies and achieving fame as the creator of the Vargas Girls. He later worked for Esquire Magazine and finally for Playboy.
