Detroit: The Free Press Steam Book and Job Printing House, 1867. First edition. Hardcover. Very good. Item #21887 .

The author was Colonel of the Sixth Michigan Volunteers. This is an unvarnished, angry account of the incompetent West Point generals under whom he served in the Civil War, the cotton thieves of the title. The narrative takes place in Louisiana, and, as one reviewer remarked, "there is nothing sanitised about this journal.".
Howes B-20. Nevins, Civil War, I-53.
