Finely printed on sheepskin parchment on an 1851 Super Royal Albion handpress. 131, (3)pp. Finely bound in full deep blue morocco, spine and boards blocked in gilt and with red leather onlays in the center of each. Florentine endpapers, inner hinges of leather. A fine copy in a fine, full morocco slipcase. This is NO. XIX of the lettered edition of 20 copies. There were also 100 numbered copies on mouldmade paper, and 30 numbered copies on handmade paper.
The Petrarch Press (198501996) was founded by Peter BIshop in the Sierra foothills of California where he published fine press editions, many on parchment. Bishop closed the press in 1996. After his death in 2002, a group of his friends re-established the press and continue fine printing an promoting book arts. This is the first book printed on the re-established press, chosem by BIshop from a tranlsation of Petrarch by Johanna Lohse published in 1900.
