Illustrated throughout with black and white and color photograph , drawings, and maps; 256 pp. 1 vols. Gray cloth blocked in blind on the boards. Pictorial endpapers. The fugitive cloth color is faded on the spine and unevenly sunned on the boards.
Signed in orange crayon on the reverse of the front endpaper by Beard.
The title states this is a pictorial documentation of the origins, history and prospects on the big game in Africa, with early histories in Kenya, Tanhanyika, Uganda, Ethopioa, et al., and the Patterson diary on the Man-Eaters of Tsavo. Illustrated with "upwards of 300 photoengravings and stonetone plates." This special edition is a revision and updating of the 1965 Viking Press edition.
