Folio. 44 unnumbered leaves. Brick-colored cloth blocked on the upper board with a design by the artists in black and gilt, and on the lower board with the same design in blind. Pages printed on one side only, with a text on the left and illustration on the right. Basically a collection of illustrated nonsense published under the pseudonym of Princess Hesse Schwartzbourg and illustrated by the Brothers Dalziel. Hinges repaired, light wear to the binding and text block else a very good copy.
De Tessier was a French cartoonist who worked under the pseudonyms Marie Duval and Princess Hesse Schwartzbourg; she was the co-creator of the comic character Ally Sloper, and is considered to be one of the first female cartoonists in Europe.
