New York: Hurd and Houghton, 1866. First edition. Hardcover. Near fine. Item #23519 .
4to. Full brown pebbled leather embossed in blind and with the title on gilt on the upper board. Gilt inner dentelles. Seven thick leaves printed in chomolithograph with blank leaves interspersed. The chromolithographs were produced by Julius Bien who learned the art in his native Germany. Some trivial foxing, the front inner hinge cracked but firm, else this is a fine copy.
An early example of chromolithography in America.
