4to. xxxiii,(1),434pp. Vellum paper boards. English Historical Society Publication. The author was a Dominican friar and an English Anglo-Norman Chronicler. His most noted work is the Annales,an important historical source for the period between 1135 and 1307, containing a specially valuable account of the reign of Edward I, who was his contemporary. They also are considered an important source for the reign of Stephen, as well as the Plantagenets in general. The Annales were published in Paris in 1668, in Oxford in 1719, and were edited in this copy by Thomas Hogg for the English Historical Society in 1845 Sometime rebacked keeping the original leather label, edges worn, else a very good copy, the textblock unopened, and with an old bookplate on the front pastedown. Text in Latin; the editors Preface in English.
