Inscribed on the verso of the front free endpaper by the artist-author: "Signed for Mr. Henry Tozer with the kindest regards of Muirhead Bone." Bookplate of "HT"; i.e., Henry Tozer, on the front pastedowns
Laid in are two autograph letters signed by Muirhead Bone and addressed to Mr. Tozer. The first, dated December 1949, discusses books by Bone and his family. The second, dated February 1950, discussed mostly an exhibit of pictures Bone's son Stephen.
The recipient is likely Henry Edward Spernon Tozer (1864-1955), a highly regarded painter of country life.
