Gilt inner dentelles. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Half title present. With the leather gilt bookplate of Beverly Chew. Hinges rubbed, tip of spine neatly repaired, else a very good copy.
Two versions of this work were printed in 1755. This is the version edited by Fielding's half-brother John. The unedited version was printed first but suppressed in favor of the edited version, which, though printed later, was the first version issued. Rothschild 857; Cross III, 326-7; Warde 28. T131333.
The Club Bindery was founded by the Groilier Club in 1895. In 1909 it became the Rowfand Bindery, then The Booklover Shop in 1914, and finally The French Binders from 1918-1920.
