Bound in red goatskin inlaid with shapes of purple, beige and black goatskin and single gilt spot, by Arthur Johnson, smaller shape on lower cover, spine titled in gilt, a.e.g., signed & dated "A.J. 1977" at foot of rear turn-in, and preserved in blue cloth drop-back box, A fine copy; the clamshell case shows wear at edges else is in very good condition.


Johnson was a founding member of the Hampstead Guild of Scribes and Bookbinders, which became the Guild of Contemporary Bookbinders and then Designer Bookbinders. He is the author of several books on the craft of bookbinding.
